I'm back from my trip and right into it with a likely looking crawl in 6...an hour of probing and a blister on my probing hand--but no egg chamber we could find. Mebbee she come back tomorrow...

Great morning! Nest #5 was located in Zone one(1). It was a truly beautiful crawl. Also there was a false crawl in Zone 6.

nest number 3 found today a raccoon took 39 eggs for breakfast but thankfully left 80. nest was relocated to Zone 4. Charlie Harrell (lighthouse host) was prober. this was Charlies birth day nest. Happy birthday Charlie |

add to Diane post: Nest 2 momma gave her all - her first attempt at nest chamber she hit a buried log. so she backtracked an nested about 8 ft above shtl. raccoon came after she left but didnt find the eggs. way go girl GOOD JOB. |

A false crawl on 4, but just as we were about to leave, got a call that Buddy found Nest 2 on 6 and needed a nest dug on 4. It must have been in a difficult spot because the bucket didn't arrive for quite a while. 117 eggs safely reburied just south of the bath house. |

The nest was in Zone 3 near the handicap parking/shower area. It was a great find by Susan Reynolds as "she" came in with the tide last evening and was just about two feet above the high tide line - barely visable tracks. The sad news is that the nest was completely destroyed by racoons. Buddy selected part of a shell for the DNA research project and we sadly collected all of the pieces of the shells. |
